Happy Almost Hanukkah! Unlike Christmas, which reliably falls on the same date every year, Hanukkah is like your flaky, couchsurfing, college friend, Atlas (Burning Man name, obviously), who could show up as early as Thanksgiving and might not leave until the crispy Christmas trees have been dragged to the curb.
This year Hanukkah spans from December 18th to December 26th, and I LOVE when my holiday overlaps with the Christmas season! The entire world is in a festive mood, which makes lighting my menorah on a Tuesday evening after work somehow feel a wee bit more sparkly than it does on, say, a cold and quiet December 6th.
One of the best parts of Hanukkah is making latkes: crispy, lacy-edged, potato pancakes that taste incomparably superior when homemade, eaten moments after they’re lifted from a hot, sizzling skillet. Latkes are also my annual excuse to buy the BIGGEST TUB OF SOUR CREAM KNOWN TO MAN.
I know it’s a bit last minute (“You can’t PLAN for great ideas, MAN!” - Atlas), but I’d love to invite you to make latkes with me in the comfort of your own kitchen!
When: Thursday, December 22nd at 6pm PST

This will keep the cost at $25, with no added fees tacked on by online payment systems!
What you’ll need: When you sign up, I will email you the ingredient & supply list. There are only a handful of ingredients, most quite inexpensive, and all easy to find. What you’ll get: A real-time cooking lesson with meeeee! We will cook together & you can ask questions. I’ll send out the Zoom recording afterward, in case you are unable to attend or want to watch it over and over again on the couch with popcorn. You’ll also get a PDF of the recipe!
I have a couple sliding-scale spots available. If you can’t afford full price, please message me.

A: Maria Sharapova! Listen to her LATKE episode here!
(It’s a fun one that also features the chef/owner of Kachka in Portland and a linguist who explains why some people pronounce it lot-ka and some say lot-key.)
LOOKING FORWARD TO DOING THIS WITH YOU NEXT THURSDAY:
