I almost got a tiny slice of pizza tattooed on my finger. I envisioned the crust resting flat against the top of my knuckle, and the point of the little cheese and pepperoni triangle ending just below my fingernail. It was going to be very cute and I would enjoy saying, “Hey, look!” while pointing my pizza finger at, I dunno, an armadillo crossing the road, a set of elderly quintuplets, a real life slice of pizza.
But then…I was talked out of it! I’ll tell you why my finger will be forever pizzaless in the new episode of my podcast, Your Last Meal.
But Andrew Rea, host of incredibly popular YouTube cooking shows like Binging with Babish and Basics with Babish, was not talked out of his food-themed tattoos.
Andrew shares the stories behind his food-related tattoos (the only food he truly hates is permanantly cascading out of his armpit) and then YOU! The LISTENERS! Call in and share your tasty tattoo tales and they are VERY GOOD STORIES; mostly funny, a little melancholy, sometimes romantic, and so charming they made me smile and say “Man, I love you guys!” outloud, to myself, while editing the podcast.
Andrew just released a new cookbook (his third!) called Basics with Babish, all about making mistakes in the kitchen.
So we’ll learn about some classic dishes that were created by mistake. Like the chimichanga, created by accident in the 1950’s in Tucson, Arizona!
Give the episode a listen & if you like the show…why not leave a little review? Would it kill you?!
Here’s what one nice listener had to say last week:
A treat to listen to
It’s fun, informative, upbeat and whimsical. Love the show.
What I cooked/baked this week:
Pumpkin Black Sesame Loaf! Moody and earthy, black sesame paste is a fun and delicious ingredient to play around with. And you can have your fussy, flaky French pastries — my baked-goods-heart belongs to squishy slices of super-tender pumpkin bread. With a cup of hot, milky coffee or mint tea? Fuggettaboutit.
I’m in a cozy congee phase! Chillier weather calls for gentle foods, like gingery, sesame-kissed rice simmered in chicken broth until its luxuriously creamy like risotto. I stirred in a simple kale and garlic puree for Kermit-esque beauty and extra nutrients and topped it with roasted, miso-glazed savoy cabbage and jammy, sesame-soy marinated 7-minute egg.

I love it when my entertainment channels cross paths! I've been a huge fan of Andrew for many years and just got his book which I'm enjoying thoroughly already. He's a really interesting guy and I'm so happy that he is on your show Rachel!
